Blog... The Final Frontier

So... Less than a day to go and I certainly won't fall asleep typing this one. READ IT ALL.

No list tonight but one thing: shoes.

I am at that point that I hate Hate HATE!! As a director I must wash my hands of everything. This show is no longer mine. This show has been stepped on, disrespected, mangled, questioned, challenged, threatened, ignored, and abused. I have been hated, loved, maligned, trusted, disrespected ignored, questioned, pushed away,... and, of cour, I've been wrong. SCREW THAT: IT'S MINE. IT IS WHAT I WANT. From the intense cast to the intense music to the intense light to the intense costume (who cares if it maKES sENSE; IT'S GOOD!!) All of it comes from my BLOGGING brain-- from the pit of my stomach. Screw passivity, screw moping, screw the norm, to hell with the way the world is, with or without including the ARTS. Normal behavior makes people outcast, prisoners, vagabonds, dope fiends, lazy, ignorant. I will do what I need to an settle for pigheaded, stubborn, egotistical, proud, and insensitive to prevent the norm from becoming the rule. I am not afraid of any of this shit (there's that profane. I will take a gamble to get what I need. I need to show the audience of this show that this is one of th-- SCREW THAT, THESE KIDS ARE THE BEST. I have grown to love them all dearly for different reason even when they hate me. (and yes, I have been called all of those things within the last year and all by people whom I hold in very high regard.)

I pray my cast needs the same. We always have the opportunity to do more than THE JOB. This has been the work. This is not for a paycheck (It ain't that big!) and it ain't about just hanging out (there's so little you can acheive on 3 or for ten-minute breaks). This is for justification. A performer should be able to say this both parts of this sentence without hesitation: I've worked harder than I'm used to and I have grown in some way. If s/he can't then said person didn't want to finish the journey. Honestly, I can't tell yet if they all want it and it makes me want to weep. I saw glimpses and HUGE moments of amazing development, from the spritely Vivian's amazing power to start the show (though she could go farther) to Jessica's OBVIOUS virtuosity of the stage, to Brian's sick control and admittedly refreshing, though not surprising power of his solo, to Sarah and Laura's intensity (almost there!!) in TOJ, and Nebi's simple knowledge of his craft and attention to detail. Courtney's ability to get Stepfather factory and tons of other difficult movement in the shortest amount of time of anyone makes me wanna punch something pretty. This cast KICKS ASS. I wanna pee a little EVERYTIME THEY HIT THE MOVEMENT.

I hope they understand the privelege. We are priveleged to take the stage and weep, laugh, scream, rage, fight-- all in public view without fear of humiliation. If we fail at our own hand we can change the mind with the same tool. We can shift peoples opinions by being the people on stage we fear being in public or, even worse, the people we create in public to mask our fear. There is nothing on stage but a naked soul when theater is at it's best. at its worse indication tells the story. Let us hope they have found theirs.

I cannot lie: I am petrified. Petrified of being a failure. Petrified that the doubts I feel in myself are more than being overly critical. Petrified that I have worked the dancers too hard. I can do nothing. They say a bad dress rehearsal means a great opening night. What does a good dress rehearsal mean? This is a tiring show and the movement works wonderfully when they trust what I see in them. It topples like the end of a jenga game when they look for the net below. I just hate cutting it from under myself.

When we started the show it was delightful. Tiger Prawn was successful aand people were ready. then time creaped up. We all had things to do. People started whispering my patience grew thin. We crunched they worked through exhaustion many times and often leaving with blank stares (like tonight). I masked my frustration pretty well, I think... Hope. Then, somewhere, I saw it. tell somebody they're not mad enough for you and they'll get mad at YOU. How awesome is that? How interesting that something that started out as delightful and refreshing quickly went to places no one expected to go. The TITLE WORKS!! I just didn't see such a huge part of the journey being mine. It has been an interesting year for me as an artist.

I am many things: young, naive, bitter, tired, driven, slightly compulsive, pig-headed, profane, obsessive, fastidious, perverse at times, isolated, moody, absent-minded. So be it. To the dancers and the audience who gave blood and sweat and money, respectively: Welcome to a small compartment of my brain. I RELUCTANTLY give it to you unsure of it's stability and promise. This is the end of my first trip. It was a... fun journey with many wrong turns. Hopefully the directions I'm leaving you are clear.

Anger about what women will do to a man (and, obviously, how it effects this show!)

So, we're a week out!!! I am nervous as hell. there is still so much to do. We ran the show (most of it, that is) tonight and it looks good. It WILL BE GORGEOUS!! I know that now. My tolerance and patience and energy is low but it always is. Saturday will be extrremely fruitful. My back doesn't hurt anymore. I through it out doing a simple demonstrative forward roll while rehearsing with Vivian and have been popping Vicatin ever since. Things are rough right now. The costume situation is killing me. Nic and Corrie aren't talking... AGAIN. Marissa keeps pushing my buttons... big woop. Dice calls me too much; Mark is on some weird vegetarian trip (if god didn't want us to eat animals, then everything good wouldn't taste like chicken); and I can barely feel my legs at time. Also, no tech period would be complete without the puking coming back. I also can barely see the show anymore. Ihave gone through this stuff so many times that it all looks like a simple, simple piece. I hate not seeing the big picture like a audience member. After all, that's my job right?

Clearly, this super

super short

rehearsal period is effecting everyone.

who cares?!

let's just get this work done so I can sleep a nd watch football in november. I know that the first part of this blog is boring. If you want to read the drunken, ill-structured rants you should read the end of it.

Wish List:
-Everybody shut the hell up
-That people show up to work like it's work!!
-To not be so self-concious
-to have one good night of sfga;hhhhhhhklllllllllllllll (sorry: fell asleep again)
-a damn assistant

tells to be done to articulate,

Number 1: Women are ridiculously beautiful.

We all know this is true. Whether you be straight, gay, bisexual, a eunuch, one must appreciate the female form. Why does this become a problem in DDT, you ask? Because there is so much more to beauty than the aesthetic value of the physical form. This is a show about aggression. I am still not seeing it. Clearly, dance crash has been built on the strength of its men and rightfully so, but the women we have now are captivating. it is insanely frustrating to not see the attack, though. Saw glimpses from Laura today which has been missing for quite a while. I can only imagine how wonderful she would be at this point if she didn't wait so long to show it.

Number 2: Women are ridiculously skilled at making question my own decisions and perceptions on life

Why the hell is it so hard to be confident around them? I spent the last several hours with the male staff just pondering the universe and the consistent topic was chicks.

Where the hell am I???

There is nothing like a woman ever so delicately suggesting that the choice you have made might not be the best and the highlight of the exchange is the freakishly short amount of time it takes to reevaluate every choice you've made since the last time you went through a drive-thru. This show is meant to reallly highlight that. Will we accomplish the mammoth task of changing people's perceptions on dance? No. Can we potentially change their perceptions on dancers? Perhaps. I feel that an important notion to comfront is the idea that women are ALWAYS soft. NOT TRUE!! We are definitely going to show a harder edge from the women if I have to kill myself to get it out of them.

Okay,
I have more to say but this blog is too long. 7 days!!

Peace
Kyle

Weeks out...

So,
Marissa sent me an email this weekend about blog content. I understand people want juicy tidbits about the process and dancers and I have been repeatedly nudged by my staff to make it "juicier" or "crunchier" or "fruitier" or "more like yogurt". Forgive me if rehearsal doesn't interest you. All of my dancers should be reading this blog and many of them do. This is why I do not put up juicy secrets about what happens at rehearsal. Also: I have been working with these people so often it's hard to keep track of my moodswings. I will say this: I am getting sick of this fucking marketing tool. I would love to entertain with this blog after a full days work and no sleep (not for any particular reason; I just don't sleep very much). I wish i could spin a wonderful yarn about the magical things that happen in a day's rehearsal but it would look like this.

"....we reviewed;
I came up with some new choreography;
I forgot said choreography;
Someone remebered parts;
A dancer gave me attitude;
I offended someone; we moved on;
Maybe we recorded it;
Maybe i ate afterwardoijjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj (that's me falling asleep at the keyboard)...."

I would love to say which dancer is greatest...

"jessica reminded me what i ate for dinner on sunday and the counts on which i chewed!" (steamy!)
"Brian said something funny about pop-culture that went over my head!" (ooh la la)
"Laura wore a baggy shirt and lifted her leg really high!" (juicy)
"Sarah looked at me funny while she was doing a body roll and i got a chill!" (enquiring minds want to know!)
"I have athletes foot and ate a bagel sandwich" (Oh, you cad!)
Look, I know these dancers well and me telling you about them is fun and all but my appreciation for them will always be higher than yours so forgive me if I don't wish to do them a disservice by explaining the mundane quality of rehearsing.

Dice suggested i should add some fun stuff. well, her're a picture:
http://www.cat-urine.net/images/wallpapers/kitten_wallpaper9_800x600.jpg
ooooooooooooooh!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!! Awn!!

This is my wishlist:
Finiish the show
You can come to any lllllllllllllllllllrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
everybody stop giving me blog suggestions.
I want to make the show hotter and damnit if that doesn't take some semblance of top priority.
I seriously want to stop falling asleep at the the keyboard. It's happened 4 times while I've bee writing this one you reading right now.
PLEASE STOP GIVING ME ADVICE ABOUT DOING THIS BLOG.

TWO WEEKS TO SHOWTIMESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
sO EXHAUSTED.

here's another picture to show the creative people.
I gotta go to sleep.

One last juicy event: Johnny Mo is pregnant... And I'm the father.!!

Finally edited the song for the women's piece. It's gonna be hot. Sarah and Jessica work fairly well together so finishing that piece was super smooth.

Oh *BLOG*, It's October!!

So damn!! The Month of my reckoning is here. The show is incredibly disjointed at this point!! It's incredibly stressful at this point: putting a show together after two months of rehearsal time (at least half of the dance norm, considering this is an almost completely new work, save for TOJ, which isn't finished.) We keep knocking out more and more choreography which has not helped anyone's brain power. I can't remember anything anyway so piling more and more choreography into my head is certainly not helping me to remember old stuff. Damn, I don't even know where my keys are.

-We finally got a decent costume fitting in today. Got shirts on everyone but Vivian's costume steals the show. The vest is super tight but super cute. Can't wait to see it come together. We're waiting to see about the shoe Hook-up I'm trying to get.
-Gotta finish editing that second act tomorrow (when? I don't know.)
-Also met with Nicky on monday. definitely on the same page and talked about the lighting for Stepfather Factory which will be a little crazy... then again the whole show is crazy. Nick's trying to get us some strobes.
-gonna put the finishing strokes on Act One this saturday. Can't wait. it's all finishing touches and transitions that are killing me right now.
-so tired.
-We've been spending a lot of time on Telemundo and raspberry fields recently and they are definitely looking good. gonna be sick as hell. The girls look fierce. let's hope we can keep it together. and make some magic finally happen after collecting all these reall fancy cuffs and tails and stuffing rabits in our top hats.
-PLEASE FEEL FREE TO COMMENT ON THIS BLOG AND ASK ME FOR INFO. I might actually respond!!!!!!!!

-Sorry if these are getting boring. just need to keep plugging away. It's definitely not a romantic point of the process right now. Deadlines always loom large and we are alway behind schedule. It is the nature of the beast. gotta start plugging my solo into the mix next week. gonna be an INSANE show.

-Did an interview with Debbie Goldgaber from NewCity Chicago. Should be a good right up. Look for it in the next two weeks. gonna be hot!!

Going to go to "bed". can't really call it that since it is loaded with clothing and boxes from moving this weekend. See Y'all tomorrow at KTF!!

Less than a MONTH, to go.

So... Been travelling and rehearsing here pretty heavily. Almost died falling asleep at the wheel early yesterday morning. The show is still so patchy. A lot of stuff to do yet. At the same time I am moving this weekend and KTF runs next weekend. No rest for the weary. I am exhausted. I might not make much sense.

-Nick and I will meet again next week to stay on the same page. I have some wicked ideas about Stepfather factory and want to make sure he know them.
-Still have tons of editing to do on the soundtrack of the show. The "NO NEW CHOREGRAPHY" deadline is this saturday but I won't make it. THIS IS A HARD SHOW!
-Did a phone interview for Newcity times. It went wonderfully. the interviewer was great to talk to. want you all to read it so I'll the come accross for assistance.!!@ Don't remember what point I was making... I want to sleep!! is that allowed?
- Through the miracles of modern technology, the amazing DMX growl is in the show for a moment. I will pay
any audience member 50 dollars if they can find the BJORK bit I added to a song. I mean it. See yo after the show.
-this costume thing is getting a little scary with all the thigs left to be ordered.
-What a twisted show. Gotta finsh Telemundo BECAUSE it is so hot I can't stand it. I am chomping at ther bit for that one. (i really don't know where my friends *something* is.

I can't type anymore. I will add more thoughts tomorrow. My eyes are drooping and this is not pleading a good case for my sanity.

An Almost Autumn Blog...

So I'm sitting at the bar drinkin... Little drunk. I love the dancers we have. The talent we have is un paralled. Working with them has been a total joy. Vivian's extension makes me sick. Jessica's memory is disgusting. Laura is you but the potential and thought she puts in is crazy. Courtney is the man. Brian's talent is monstrous. Nebi's killin. Sarah is the one chick I never want to stare down... INTENSE. Lyndsey is hurt. Send her your love. Managed to get about 4:30 of Get Your Hand Off My Shoulder, Pig done. Way better than expected. We finish TPC on saturday. Also Truancy WILL be done.

So the first act is pretty much mixed in beta test form. The second act is almost there. I'll probably finish it tomorrow. Shannons rockin on the costumes. The plaid skirts have been ordered. SEXY!!
-Nick's got the scoops for TPC. and Lazerfaces' . So hot. you will see.
-Nick and I also decided upon program pics.
-Trying to get laid: We all do it. (sorry: anebriate)
-GOTTA GET THESE SHOES FOR THE DANCERS
-What's up with sponsorships?
-So. While I was editing music and used a lot of CoFlow stuff to fill some silences. Sure it's not JUST EL-P BUT it's SO tight!! Have you bought any of his music yet? what are you waiting for?
- Choreographing my 1:33 solo next week. I plan to go BALLS TO THE WALL.

gotta go. I'm pretty wasted. I love everyone.

Peace

Blog Blog Blog...

Hey, All
So, yes, this blog is late. It is. Sorry. Had to get this poster design done and I am in love with it. I lost my adapter for my laptop in the bag that I lost so I have had to borrow juice from other people for the last week or so. Quite frustrating. my new one should come in tomorrow or monday. Poster and postcard designs are going to print tonight. Sweet. kinda drunk right now. A lot has happened in the last week. on Monday I went shopping with shannon. found shirts and some random accoutrements for the show. gonna be super hot. found something potentially awesome for Vivian. So cute. Hope it fits. Later that day I met with Nick and we definitely want to try and get some "scoops" for TPC. It's a lighting thing you wouldn't understand. You will when you see it. if it works properly it will look like a near death experience. there was a specific look for Run the Numbers we are going for. It will be fucking hot. We also finalized the ideas for the bio pics in the brochure. It's gonna be awesome. There is this great Sinatra mugshot poster thatinspired the idea and Nick and I just ran with it.
Starting to brainstorm with marissa about some lobby display ideas. Wanna make everyone a little uncompfortable before they step into the space so they can forget about said comfort when the show starts. Hammered out an idea about opening announcements at the production meeting (yes, we plan those as well) and it should be hilarious. I need to get a phat-ass Adidas track suit for it, ASAP. Also talked with Corrie about some depressing things I will refuse to let get me down.

There is obviously a bunch of stuff to do still. So much choreography, so little time. We are working Get your hand off my Shoulder, Pig and Telemundo. should be tasty as hell.
-HAVE TO REORGANIZE
-Trimming down Telemundo tomorrow morning,
-have to find out who's videoing this
-Rehearsing with Brian and Nebi for Poisenville Kids
-meeting
-catch everybody upon choreogrphinc a whole should. Have fun.

You look nige in a shirt before.

Okay that should be enough. Speparate you absentloutly will.
Enjoy your wleep, passion and virtuility to put upon better. Swee dreams? I have to go before my legs give out.

Blog from Cornell University

"Tonight... Is your night, bro!!"
Danny Devito, Twins,

Just wrapped two shows at Cornell. In my absence, jessica Deahr taught No King for me (there are only 6 eights missing!) It's gonna be sick. sending the poster to rissa tonight for suggestions. should be tight. Since last I spoke at you I realize how much work there is to do. I will definitely be crunching numbers once I see where we are on saturday. Our first stumble through of any sort.

Pressures on Shannon to get this adidas thing working. It has to happen. Must have some funky kicks for this show. Gotta Happen. Shell toes would be perfect throwbacks. Finally thinking in a level-headed way about this show. sorry if I don't make sense. Exhausted. Just ordered the preshow, intermission, and post-show music for This beast. had almost forgotten. Two cds down and 1 to go.

Too many irons in the fire right now. How are we going to make these shoes work? gotta start shopping this next week for accessorizing ideas.

Gotta finish this music editing. Much more difficult than I thought.

I really just want to know if there is a way to backlight the raised proscenium at Page's. A couple "scoops" would get me hot. Definietly want a bright near-death experience look in the opening. we'll talk production stuff this weekend.
Also want to know if we can flicker the lights a little bit. (Nick: what say you?) I would really like to have one lighting look that had a flourescent feel to it. It will work with the costumes nicely.

Here We Go...

So.. Had a good rehearsal today working Intrigue... Still need to pace it the way I want to place it. Feeling a little fucking nervous about it to tell you the truth. Feeling nervous about everything. I'm pretty close to on schedule but that means nothing. It doesn't pop yet. Not enough sexy.

Had a Fantastic meeting with our Costume coordinator Shannon after rehearsal, though, we are definitely on the same page. The gear for this show is gonna be so sexy. especially for the ladies. And I don't mean dirty/filthy; I mean sexy.

Gotta mix music this week.

Need to set up a meeting with Nick about his lighting Ideas. I know he's got some stuff cooking so I want to pick his brain like a preschooler's nose.

We gotta figure out this shoe situation soon. If we do it the show will be even sicker. I wanna go straight "Tougher Than Leather" on this one. B-Boy sexy. Now Shannon's just gotta bring it home. (Bring it home, Shannon!!)

Micheal Dice Junior's First Act Show Order and Important Elements:

No Kings- Attitude, Estrogen, Movement

The Long Blog home

Alright. Back to work. Touring. Was supposed to perform tonight but the first airline I was booked on cancelled my flight. the second airline that I switched to was delayed by weather FOR 3 HOURS. then the pilots had to be switched so tack on another hour. then the flight computer went all haywire (That's right: add another hour.) follow that up with sitting in line behind 37 other planes and a flight from NYC to Syracuse originally scheduled for 45 minutes lasted from 1220 in the afternoon until 930. DIDN'T GET TO PERFORM AND MISSED WINE COUNTRY.

Nevertheless, rehearsal went on, as scheduled, without my presence. Apparently Chris courtney kicked ass teaching the first half of Truancy. I will work with him again next thursday when I get home and work on the second section. of the song. Just want him to make it super tight with the other ladies while I'm gone.

Jim is coming in saturday to start on TPC. Can't wait for that one. It is gonna be so hot. He's excited as well. Really frantic denergy and giving something to Sarah W. on this one will rock.

Shannon and I discussed costumes Today. So sexy. So sexy. Very Catholic Bronx meets Harazuku (just learning about this place; look it up)

Jessica is going to add on with what she learned on monday at saturdays rehearsal. Second part of Lazerfaces' Warning

Intrigue in the House of India will be sexy once it's finished. Got some crazy partnering ideas for when I come home next thursday.

So tired. Three shows tomorrow and a day at the airport means this Hotel bed is calling me.

Stay up
Kyle

A Blog for the Road...

So. This show is super meaty. Lots of stuff to discover. Finished (save for the ending) Laura's part in Stepfather Factory. (She'll rock!!) Worked with Brian on Poisenville Kids.... Also taught some new stuff to Courtney. He will teach a lot fo Truancy while I am on the road. He probably knows it better than I do. Also cranked out a huge chunk of Intrigue... During the last two rehearsals. Like it but don't love it right now, you know what I'm sayin? Will be on the hunt for some good ole storytellin ideas tomorrow durin "me time". I'm scheduled to finish Run the Numbers on saturday and that will be a huge weight off my shoulders. Another BEAST. Jimmy's been working hard with me on TPC and by all accounts it will be hot. A little down so I don't have much clever stuff for you tonight.

Thing I will do in the next 4 days.
Tomorrow:
Plan for Intrigue... and Run the Numbers

Saturday:
Announce some very bad news
Rehearse til I vomit

Sunday:
Rehearse No Kings with the ladies
Work on TPC with Jim
Condition with SWink

Monday
Meet with Laura

I need to go. Things are bad right now. Sorry
Kyle

A Blog Begins... Sorry. A Blog Contiues

So.
It's August. Only Two Months Until Showtime.

The intense group choreography for Run The Numbers is Finished. Just have to teach it to everyone and finish the spacing of things. Also gotta pick the big finisher for when the beat changes at the end. Choices, Choices. Also got a ton of stuff to get accomplished in the next week in preparation for tour starting on September 21st in New York. Teaching the first verse of Lazerfaces' Warning tonight. If I can get the chorus done as well that would be awesome. Also the first day with everybody in rehearsal. That'll be hot. Courtney has been learning Truancy which is mentally difficult. That one will definitely be a problem.

Things to do is boring me. This is a list of people I need to work with this next week and a half.
Brian
Sarah
Laura
Courtney
Jessica

Got a ton of pieces to hammer out. Also have to:
Re-edit Lazerfaces' Warning
Trim down Delorean
Cut Intrigue in the House of India
Definitely need to set a game plan for Intrigue... for Saturday. It's gonna be a sexy beast
Wanna start Get Your Hand Off My Shoulder, Pig next week as well. Should be fun. Sexier than Intrigue..., that's for sure.

That's all for now. Gotta go rehearse.

One,
Kyle

Blog in Production Mode

Alright,
So rehearsal has officially started. Last Saturday we knocked out the unison stuff of Rum the Numbers. The only stuff left is to organize the groupings and create strong stage pictures on the "Na-na-na-na-na-na-na" parts and the breakdown at the end.

Started Mixing Lazerfaces' Warning. I'm bouncing between the original and the RJD2 mix.
Almost done with Laura's stuff for Stepfather Factory. She's got about 8 eights left for her.
Also about 12 eights from finishing No Kings. It'll be real hot once the girls get it.
Also about halfway through the first verse of Lazerfaces' Warning. Gotta set it on the company Next Thursday.
Brian Led Rehearsal today, teaching the newbies and absentees the Run The Numbers stuff. Can't wait to have everyone and place them.
Gotta get past halfway with Courtney next week on Truancy. Circle Jerk!!
Auditions went wonderfully. found three potential rock stars. All welcome Sarah Winkler to DDT. She's fierce.

Well, Headed to Michigan to work with Catharsis Productions.
Here's the punchlist
-Work on Poster
-Finalize Rehearsal Schedule
-Finalize Cast
-Intrigue in the House of India (music edit and movement)
-Finish up Laura's Stepfather Factory stuff
-Teach ladies the rest of No Kings
-Start Working with Jim on TPC
-Work Get Your Hand Off My Shoulder, Pig... partnering with Jessica

Gotta go memorize,
One Love

The Blog Before the day before it REALLY starts

So....
Did a quick inventory of what I needed to accomplish in the rehearsal process versus what has already been done. Realized I was more on track than the amount for which I had given myself credit.

A list of sections previously choreographed before Tiger Prawn:
Brian's Solo
TOJ (though this will be revamped in a major way)
A lsit of what I've been working on since the second week of TP:
Run the Numbers (Group sections finished)
Lazerfaces' Warning
Stepfather Factory (about One verse done)
No Kings
Things to be accomplished tomorrow:
Start Truancy with Courtney (Can we get half done?)
Finish No Kings With Sarah (Finish and run run run!)
Stepfather Factory with Laura

Gotta get this class situation together.
Saturday will be a big one.

Already super amped to lay down the group stuff tomorrow and just want to make sure it's super super sexy.

Got costume stuff to get as well. If you knew me back in high school (Gordon tech) you would know the look I want. Then, in the second half everything goes crazy.

"Look her come the scientists!
Here they come to cure us all/
Mind is on your money sonny/
Brain is on the curtain/
Give the kid a sack of D/ Pass the child a bag of C
Even in the tenement residence there's a pharmacy

The Time is Now. Blog Yourself in the Movement!!

The Show was over almost a week ago and is just beginning again. Run The Numbers is finished as far as choreographing the verses is concerned. Will try to crank that out on saturday next. Started working with Sarah on the first half of the Women's piece (No Kings) and got about a third of the way through. will try to finish that section tomorrow. They're gonna look so sexy... like evolved sexy. ;) (YES THAT WAS AN EMOTICON.) It's a toprock /uprock section (look it up! Yeah, Wikepedia)
Also started working on Stepfather Factory with Laura. Also sexy. It's a Robot/Animation/Popping section. Probably a Quartet. It is definitely awkward, initially, on a ballet dancer but the limbs are right. The devil's in the details. Definitely want to start Truancy with Courtney on tuesday and start Lazerfaces' Warning on Wednesday. If Sarah and I could hit the mid point of the Second Women's section (Raspberry Fields) Next week I'll Be Happy.

Things to consider:
Duet. Who? What Song?
Telemundo Editing
TOJ. what shall be done? New thirds chorus indeed.
Class structure. Figure it out next week.
Auditions. What are we looking for?
Delorean. Why Not.
Let's get THIS DOWN ROCK STUFF Tight as hell!!!!!

Time to go.
I got music to edit and research to do. Holla!!

Blog of the last week before the first day of the rest of my life

Okay.
So Tiger Prawn Closes this weekend. Reviews have been mostly good. Whatev. I will frame them all no matter what. On to daytrip!! No... Sleep... TILL BROOKLYN!!! There are many things to talk about. Choreographed some meaty stuff on Saturday of last to Run The Numbers. So Blogging Fast!! I only got about half of it done and I was exhausted. I gotta tape and finish it on saturday and start on the next section on Monday with sarah. Next up: No Kings I think. Girls section. gotta be hard. I will keep the super-sexy for the coed stuff. That's what the people want to see. Just saw Live Free or Die Hard. Movie was awesome as *Blog*. Nonetheless. Would also like to get back to Brian's choreography. also want to hit Truancy with Courtney I think. that should be enough to keep me going and roughly sane.

Things for the week:
-ELEPHANT IN THE SHOW: GOTTA HAPPEN
-partnering section. Four people. three dudes and a chick (perfect numbers!!) Which song? Get your Hand Off My Shoulder Pig? YEAH!!

It will be fun trying out new things on these bodies we have. Can't wait. Watching Vertigo Right Now!! Awesome. kINDA hOPPED UP ON vICOTIN right now because of the tooth situation. Codiene Kyle is in Full effect. Finally close to getting the base image for the ddt pOSTer. It's much more of a block style piece than the "wildstyle" of the season brochure. Will be hot. working with the pencil again is great. WACOMs are awesome but drawing with true media is so much more tactilly fulfilling.

Preview Blog

Okay, So, TP opens tomorrow. I think I have spent more time stressed tahn ever imagined. It is a good show though. Considering for the most part This show is all me, I am glad to see the cast taking it as their own and playing and enjoying themselves all the way. "Been a long time coming."
There is a TON of buzz about this show right now. Let us hope I have a good monday.

Since this show is essentially set (and I mean essentially), I want to start choreographing DDT this saturday just to get into it (LIKE A SEX MACHINE) Probably start with truancy (Which I totally forgot in my last list.) total pop and lock piece only sexier. Either that or Intrigue... or Something is wrong. Let me look at the other blogs and figure it out.

New List.
Shoes or No shoes?
Lazerfaces' Finale
Traffic Cone stealing/set?
Lobby art work (stencils)
Get music to Dice.
Remember the lackluster reception to TOJ
Steal the bacon (you'll get it one day)
can I get a wall to "publicize" on?
Remember to turn Page's out!!!
Some Audition Material will be from "DDT"
Girls and boys pieces in show.
Need more Boys.

That's the biz for the day, folks. Heade out and about to handle business for tonight's preview. Come see the show. It's beautiful... Daytrip will be prettier.

Last Blog of Spring (or first of Summer)

Heard El-P at a bar today. first time hearing him in a public venue outside of a concert. TPC!! I'm on the Tasmanian Pain Coaster right now. A lot to do on this (Tiger Prawn) show with little time. Let me get to it. Might be a little sloopy since I am on three hours sleep each day for the last 5.

Can't wait to start choreographing.

Michael Dice Jr. is going to help pic show order. (Don't telll him though. You, and only you know this. It shall be a sweet surprise.)

-Top rock piece is going to be awesome.
-I need to get a *bloggin* camcorder.
-This show will look amazing. UPSTAGE AREA AT THE BEGINNING IS A MUST.
-I think TPC is the theme of this show. This may seem morbid butpain is everywhere and nobody seems to want to claim it. "This is the sound of what you don't know killing you. This is the sound of what you don't believe (still true.) This is the sound of what you don't want still in you..."
-"WHO WANTS TO BE AN ARTIST?" the newest hit show in a coffee shop near you.
-"Lazerfaces' Warning
-HOW DO I TALK ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS WITHOUT BEING CLICHE. (Harder than one would think.)
-"Addicted to the groundwork| footwork, you're lovin it..." (cool calm pete)
-Oh, crap!! epiphany time!! just figured out "Intrigue in the House of India" Idea. (see line above.)
-okay so I have five songs so far for sure, and they are, in no particular order:

Tasmanian Pain Coaster
Run The Numbers
TOJ
Intrigue in the House of India
Lazerfaces' Warning
Poisenville Kids/No Wins
Stepfather Factory
Delorean

Okay, so that's not five but I just need to delude myself for a couple of weeks.

This is where I am.
Go El-p. Against the grain is changing the face.

Peace
Kyle

DDT...a blog too far

About to hit tech week (what?) for Tiger Prawn the mountain mover. Excited, Anxious, Pissed. c'est la guerre. So For now these blogs are a bother but I love y'all so I will stay with it.

DDT will open with Tasmanian Pain Coaster. I already have my idea down for that one and I shall "get by with a little help from my friends." HOT!

Finally got my touring schedule which means I got my conflicts down. looks like I won't be gone too many saturdays (that definitely hurt me during TP:MM) It will be interesting to see how I manage this rehearsal process differently.

There is a great song called "Worker Ant Uprise" I would like to revisit but can't since it is in Tiger Prawn. Gotta rediscover that "Little Johnny from the Hospital" Album.

Reconsidering what needs to happen with the Poisenville Kids/No Wins piece. I really enjoy what it could be but still am not seeing it.

Need to start planning how to use that upstage area (or is it worth it to try?) Should go for a visit soon.

What are they going to wear?

think I would like eleven sections in the show (arbitrary number I assure you. Nineteen is my number and I am not THAT much of a masochist)

Preshow and Intermission tracks will be hot (different)

BBOY STANCE

Headed to meet with sarah. We need to move. Holla.

Blog of Blogs.

So...
I admittedly haven't thought about Daytrip much this week. Tiger Prawn Has taken up most of time. Here's the deal, though.

What can be gained (for both me and the dancers) from the screwy rehearsal process of Tiger Prawn?
What happens in a concert show that must be improved upon?
What can an audience handle?
What do I really want to say in this show? (I AM aware that this question has been proposed previously in the blog but I still must answer it.)
How will I make this show better than the previous two?
Rehearsal Schedule(?)
How long do I want this show to be?
Why do we not do rep shows all the time?
Am I good enough?

Sorry it's a ton of questions to myself this week. That is where I am.
Amp is on the way (nice!) finally can start trying to mix things.

The Blog of Frustration (@!*#!!)

So you may inquire where the other, earlier blog posts are.
Well through some fucked up process of dealing with email problems the blogger account has dissappeared. So I will be trying to salvage what I can of the old one through some creative use of google (though I hate them right now.)
Anyway, I'm gonna get to it before I pour bleach and battery acid over my keyboard.

So...
(*still pissed off!!*)

-So I just had an amazing idea for daytrip. The song StePfAtHER fACtorY. Had something in mind bUT Now I have a way To gET it.
-Now that I have the perfect woMen's Piece (interlude or full length?) just need to start cReaTiNG.
-cOLLABORATION?
-Definitely going to end the Show with Lazerfaces' Warning
-Remember to start listening to the HIGh WatEr SesSIoNs and CoLlectINg the KiD again. INTRigue in tHE hOUse Of India is a MUST.
-Purchasing an Amp Next Week. need a table within the next couple weeks as well. Probably start mixing and compiling for serious in mid june in my free time (HA!!)
-Remember: Video Tape!!

Tired and frustrated. Need rest but won't get it. Back to work. Gotta Get this Blog Caught up.

Today is a bloggin lovely day

Forgive me for this "artsy" blog. So I'm shacked up in this hotel room outside of dc and JUST StarTED dANCING In front of the mirror SeeING where THE dAYtrip movement should come from. The only thiNG iCAN remember is speed. LOTS OF SPEED. Flailing my limbs about is fun and liberating and exhausting... all of those things I love and need in my life. I want to make sure this SHOW taps into my emotional side (one which I find hard to not analyze intellectually) and show all of the emotional aspects of my job, my personal life, my love life (or consistent lack there of. It's hard when caring about SOMEONE is always placed on the BACKBURNER after loving SOMETHING, i.e. my craft and ambitions to master it.) What will be FUN challenge is getting everyone to understand where my style of movement comes from. Don't get me wrong, on the surface it is obvious (bboy, capoeirista, ballet, yada yada yada...) but teaching other people how to do it is another. Transitions are important to me but often prove difficult since I am definitely a doter on moments that appeal to me. Smoothing out my love would better serve this show.

Things to remember~
Brian's solo with reinforcements
What will take the place of "High Resolution"?
Who put the bop in the bop-shoo-bop? (just checking if you're reaDING)
Will the ISWYD Instrumentals be available in time to edit some of the show?
How many Full cast pieces should there be? 4? 4's a good number.
Remember: Top Rock Lovers Who do Ballet
What can we actually do that no one else can do, physically?
Are we really a "trick" company anymore?
Rasperry Fields/ Battle for Asgard beat
Sweeps and reverse grinders and cOIN dROPS

I have a poster to edit do to some miscommunications with the DCA. gOTTA go.

quote for the night:

"Centerfold Dreams/ These lights can Unfold to Show you Such a beautiful thing/
Beautiful Thing/ Such a beautiful thing"

What the Blog?!

So, It occurs to me that I have forgotten about the song "Intrigue in the House of India" from the High Water Sessions album. Brilliant Jazz Song!!!!!!! ALL CAPS. The rehearsal process for this show will be very different. none of the ... What I would Like to do is start choreographing and recording during the run of Tiger Prawn. That way, COM aUGUST AND sEPTEMBER, i CAn Just pump it out. and give it to these dancers. I fully intend to over choreograph this show. "Let us pray." That way ALL we have to do is trim the fat and put it in a tangible and evocative order. Gotta start planning this now.

The List
Intrigue in the House of India (By Myself?)
My OWN Soloo (Oh Shit!!) I THINK Dear Sirs is a good candidate. It is short enough to go "Balls out" but strong enough to leave an impact.
Boys piece. (When shall we be graced with more men?)
Ladies' Piece (El-P's music is definitely a man's world)
Lighting the second stage
My Bad-ass Idea for Preshow music (so hot!)
Lobby Display (Very Dark)

Toodles For Now. Enjoy the morning hours.

So Brian's Solo is "finished" for now. can't wait...

So Brian's Solo is "finished" for now. can't wait to see how I work the intro for it as weel as the transition out of it. The song "Poisenville kids no wins" is awesome. Going to see EL-P in concert next week at the abbey pub. everyone should see it if you want to witness the future of hip hop.. It's Gonna be So Damn Hot.

List of things.
Still don't have a table or amp. Looking at alesis
Still contemplating the shoe situation.
Why have we become afraid of the canon?
Isolated sections for TPC?
WHAT about Legends from Funcrusher Plus?
Lune TNS?
Remember: Duel for Delorean ( 4 and 4?)
Whatever shall they wear?
To whom is this show catering?
The time is now.

All in all, I'm f*in stoked

Today's quote:
"El-Producto's sorta strange/ They say "He's staring/ long range/
Perhaps he's looking past us all with his thousand yard gaze"
